After surprisingly poor ticket sales, the SCA committee decided tonight to post pone the Auction of Promises, due to be held on Saturday 5th December. Clearly, there are already too many things on people's plates in the run up to Christmas for this to be viable.
During the discussions that led up to the decision tonight, we were always aware of the risk of holding an event at such short notice at this time of year. However, with the timeline for raising our target sum of £145,000 it was a risk we felt we had to try. Everybody who reads this, needs to be aware that the timeline for getting Stanwix's collective act together is ridiculously short. 6 months!
The raffle of gift items, donated by our kind sponsors will go ahead on Saturday night, We cannot put this off really, because some of the items have an expiry date.
The raffle
will still take place at 8pm on Saturday and be drawn by 3 members of the
Committee.
Apologies to
the people who bought tickets – if you would like a refund, please let me know,
otherwise your ticket will be valid for the re-arranged night which will be in
the New Year, as will the sealed bids for auction promises.
Mike has a
slot next week on Radio Cumbria and he is hoping to announce the logo
competition winner from Trinity School on air.
