I bet you usually think of Twitter as either another pointlessly fancy bit of Internet trickery, or else as something new fangled that can't possibly have any use. Well; as is the habit of new and simplistic (seeming) technologies, new uses are evolving at an incredible rate. One example of using Twitter to target a local audience as opposed to its global reach is explained on the Twitter's own blog. |

It's not often you see Stanwix in the national news or hear us getting mentioned on Radio 4, but Ben's created quite a ripple with his recent offer. The BBC was headlining it on their website for a while with:
"A Cumbrian vicar is offering to help cash-strapped couples pay for a wedding in church."

Just chatting to Mike James today via email and he tells me that so far the event has brought in over £400 in entry fees and a healthy £1000 in sponsorship money. That's a great start to the fundraising efforts folks so lets keep it rolling. There is still quite a lot of money to be brought in so don't let it fade into a distant memory. Go knock on those doors and let's try to give all the money in to school or to Mike as soon as possible. Great effort people! |
