This was in the News and Star tonight: Looks like both councils are feeling the pinch and a cycle way project is a minimally controversial project to try and wash your hands of! Sorry that sounds like a crabby conspiracy theory (with a small c).
A £4.4M SCHEME for a cross-Carlisle cycle path is at risk because Cumbria County Council is refusing to improve a footbridge in Currock. |

Stanwix isn't the only community in Carlisle, by any stretch of the
imagination. Over in Currock and Denton Holme, a group of "activists"
are trying to improve things for cyclists and other users of the
bridge linking the two communities. I have included their email and
information so you can lend your support if you feel the linking
bridge could do with a bit of an update.

On the 17th of November, the Stanwix Community Association met in the hut again. Now that members had come to terms with the nature of the problems faced by the Association, discussion flowed far more freely and constructively. This was also aided by the recent good news from the council that there would be some assistance with the rent hike. below are the minutes of the recent meeting. |
